What is GEO?

A Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) satellite has an altitude of approximately 35,800 kilometers (22,300 miles) directly over the equator. These satellites appear nearly stationary in the sky as seen by the observer on the ground. SES owns a fleet of over 55 GEO satellites which provide communications to its customers on the ground.

How can I purchase GEO bandwidth or GEO end-to-end services?

What is MEO?

A MEO or Medium Earth Orbit satellite has an altitude of about 8,063 kilometers (5,010 miles) above the earth. The SES fleet includes sixteen MEO satellites as of 2018. These satellites provide high throughput and low latency for time-sensitive applications. SES will launch the next generation of MEO satellites starting in Fall 2021. The fleet will be able to deliver anywhere from hundreds of megabits to 10 gigabits to any location through 30,000 spot beams.
