Space community in National Capital Region rallies to raise money for the Fisher House Foundation

The space industry in the National Capital Region launched something truly exciting this weekend – but it wasn’t a rocket or satellite.

Rather, satellite professionals and members of the military came together to launch a fun event designed to bring people together, and raise money for a charity with an important mission.

The first ever Space Industry Fundraiser for U.S. Veterans was held this past Sunday at the Old Ox Brewery in Ashburn, VA. Organized and sponsored by satellite communications provider, SES Space and Defense, the event included a cornhole tournament and other activities with all proceeds going to support U.S. veterans via the Fisher House Foundation.

The Fisher House Foundation provides military families housing close to a loved one during hospitalization for an illness, disease or injury. The organization operates a network of comfort homes where military and veterans’ families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment.

As a result of the event, the Fisher House Foundation will soon be receiving funds of over $2,000.

We’d like to take the opportunity to thank the Fisher House Foundation, Old Ox Brewery,  the SES Space and Defense team and other volunteers for contributing to this awesome event. This includes the top three winners of the cornhole tournament, and all of the participants who helped make this happen.

If you were unable to attend but would like to make a financial contribution to the Fisher House Foundation, you can donate towards the cause on the donations page here.
