Press Release

(MCLEAN, VA – June 13, 2008) – Satellite solutions provider AMERICOM Government Services (AGS) has won a follow-on contract via a competitive tender with an initial value of $136.2 million over a five year base period in support of the U.S. Army’s TROJAN Network.  This contract also includes five additional one-year options worth $150.2 million for a total potential contract value of $286.5 million over 10 years.  The Army’s TROJAN Network provides an operational intelligence capability and a means of enhancing combat readiness of military personnel.

After winning the initial contract in 1998, AGS began working with Army INSCOM to enhance and grow the network as it exists today.  AGS provides the satellite bandwidth, systems engineering support, and operations and maintenance of the satellite communications network.  This network, which will serve as the foundation for the continued work, is a global program that is available for use by military personnel around the world.

Tip Osterthaler, President & CEO of AGS noted, “This represents a major landmark in terms of our growth and evolution as a solutions provider for our government customers.”  The end-to-end solution offered by AGS includes a custom network complete with satellite bandwidth, terminals, ground infrastructure, and the design and engineering expertise to enable TROJAN’s network control centers.

With this new contract, AGS will provide the latest technology and innovative solutions to make more efficient use of the available bandwidth currently offered by the TROJAN Network.  AGS will help enhance the effectiveness of the network by incorporating multiple access schemes where a number of users can utilize the same bandwidth by maximizing the potential of each single data channel currently in use.

Dave Jackson, Chief Operating Officer and TROJAN program executive at AGS, remarked, “It is a privilege to continue supporting this network and we are proud to have our performance validated by customer satisfaction in this important area.  We are committed to performing at a level that will support the Army’s mission and successes going forward.”
