October 22, 2007– Washington, D.C./Princeton, N.J. – AMERICOM GOVERNMENT SERVICES, Inc. (AGS), a wholly owned subsidiary of SES AMERICOM, Inc., today announced that James Scheimer, Ph.D, has joined AGS as Chief Technology Officer. Scheimer’s most recent assignment was as Vice President and Senior Scientist for Systems Engineering in the Office of Technology, directing the development of tools for the execution of large enterprise and system solutions programs at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC).Tip Osterthaler, President and CEO of AGS, said, “On practically a daily basis, technological innovations are being introduced that can make a difference in the way government agencies and our armed forces receive and deliver essential information; Jim’s mission is to track and monitor these developments to determine their applicability in the communications solutions we engineer for our U.S. Government customers.” He continued, “I am delighted that someone with Jim’s intellect and commitment has joined AGS; he will be pursuing the next generation of technological tools that will facilitate the accomplishment of these mission critical communications objectives.”

James F. Scheimer, Ph.D., AGS Chief Technology Officer, said, “My focus will be on the applicable technological developments and innovations that will lead to efficiencies and improved performance in the communications solutions AGS’ provides government customers, both civilian and defense. New technologies often developed for commercial applications can be adapted and/or adopted by U.S. government customers enabling new applications as well as superior quality of service.”

Starting at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in 1978, and most recently spending almost 10 years with SAIC, Scheimer’s assignments have involved treaty verification, research, system architecture, standards based systems engineering process development, and project management of highly complex operations for diverse U.S. government customers such as Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, the National Guard, the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, Defense Nuclear Agency and the Department of Energy. Jim holds both a B.S. and M.S. in Physics and Geophysics respectively from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in Seismology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
