Press Release

MCLEAN, VA, September 25, 2014 — Global satellite solutions provider SES Government Solutions announced today that their President and CEO, Tip Osterthaler, will retire in March, 2015 after more than 8 years leading the company.

Brig Gen Billy Bingham, USAF (Ret) commented, “From my first day as Chairman of the Proxy Board for SES Government Solutions, we discussed the need for a revitalized approach in the way this global satellite company does business with the government, as well as the way in which the government purchases from the satellite industry.  Since then, we have watched Tip systematically transform the company to the successful enterprise we see today, and in addition, invigorate a number of Congressional and defense policy initiatives that continue to improve the way our government acquires critical communications capability.”

Osterthaler joined SES in 2006 when he became the CEO of AMERICOM Government Services.  Since then, the wholly-owned subsidiary of SES SA has tripled in size and been transformed from a product oriented sales channel into a solutions-focused independent subsidiary responsible for all aspects of SES’ U.S. Government business.  His retirement marks the end of a distinguished career as a senior executive in the defense industry, which followed an equally distinguished military career where he last served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for European and NATO Policy.

The SES Government Solutions Board of Directors has formed a search committee to identify a successor, and transition is expected to start in early 2015.
